Empire: A fond farewell

In the Empire Magazine November 2016 edition one of Luke’s friends Ben Ostell, published a letter in Luke’s memory

The published letter read:

“When I was 12, I overheard a boy called Luke Gaul talking about films. He lent me his copy of Empire (it had Troy on the cover) and this was the beginning of two relationships: the first with you (Empire Magazine) the second with Luke. Luke taught me that every film good or bad held value. We spent years debating all kinds of cinema. Sadly Luke passed away on 23rd August, his loss deeply felt by everyone. I thought that it may be fitting tribute for him to have his name in the magazine that brought two 12 year olds together and gave me an invaluable friendship”
